Trail Mix Music Video Screenings + Panel Discussion

Pendleton singer-songwriter James Dean Kindle will present a free screening of a pair of new music videos, accompanied by a panel discussion featuring their respective creators as well as cast members. Both music videos will have made their debut at Baker City’s We Like Em Short Film Festival on Friday August 22nd.The music video for Mountain Home, from Kindle’s 2024 album Trail Mix, is an animated short made by Bobby Bellinger, a Baltimore, MD based animator originally from Hermiston, OR. He received his BA in Animation from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2024 and currently serves as a Production Assistant for the Maryland Science Center.

The black-and-white music video for Death & The Cowboy, also from the album Trail Mix, was shot and directed by Tim Mustoe, a documentary filmmaker based in Pendleton, OR. The gothic western narrative features local actors including Pat Beard as Death, Jacoby Merwin as The Cowboy and Carly Elder and Brian Warren in supporting roles. It was shot at Tutuilla Flats in the winter of 2024.

A graduate of Eastern Oregon University’s media arts program, Mustoe is the former Multimedia Editor for the La Grande Observer and current Video Director for Elkhorn Media. Through his production company Northwest Story Lab he has produced documentaries for Inland Northwest Musicians, Eastern Oregon University, and the Oregon East Symphony. The trailer for his documentary Secret of the New Year won twelve International Gold Awards. He is also the drummer/percussionist in James Dean Kindle’s band.
